Nebbiolo is the most noble Piedmontese grape variety and give birth to a great wine; its bouquet stands out for the berries, cinnamon and vanilla notes.
The mouth is rich and full-bodied, reminding to wild strawberry, but it is also powerful and enveloping, without losing elegance. Its place is a table full of important meat dishes, or a platter of seasoned cheese.
Denomination: Nebbiolo d’Alba D.O.C.
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo.
Area of production: Langhe.
Vinification: Crushing and destemming; fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C. Maceration on the skins for 10 days, with daily pumping of the must over the cap.
Final refining.
Cellar life: 7 years.
Must give a try with a risotto with porcini mushrooms collected in the valleys of Piedmont. Our Nebbiolo d’Alba is also great in combination with game, grilled or roasted meats and mature cheeses.
Nebbiolo grapes gives life to one of the most important Piedmont wines and, perhaps, in the world: Barolo and Barbaresco.
The name derives from the fact that the harvest of nebbiolo is the last one, usually in October, when there is fog (in Italian “nebbia”), or because the berries are covered with a sort of patina, “pruina”, which would remember the haze.
